THE FLAVOR PROFILE
TASTING NOTES
Freudian Slip opens with enticing notes of palm sugar and fruit in the dry fragrance, accompanied by hints of berry and a pleasant bittersweetness at darker roast levels. The wet aroma reveals a fascinating fruited side that carries over into the cup, with steam releasing wild fruit notes and a winey scent. At a City+ roast, expect rustic sugars and musky fruit notes, with a surprisingly pleasant acidity for Brazilian coffee. The moderate sweetness leads to flavors of coconut palm sugar, hazelnut, freeze-dried berry, and a winey aromatic note of grappa brandy. Darker roasts exhibit intense roast flavors, with mild fruit notes in the finish, like grape skins, and a lingering taste of high cocoa solids chocolate.

The Story
A truly unique coffee from the farm of Luis Otavio Turati. Coffee farming runs deep in Luis' family lineage. After his grandfather spent many years working the fields of other people's farms, Luis' father, Jose, set out to plant his own coffee first in Guaxupé. Eventually, the family settled in Serra da Canastra, in South Minas, where they established their 120-hectare farm, Novo Horizonte. Drawn to the higher altitudes of the area (1100 meters) and the proximity to the nearby National Park, the Turati family has continually refined their picking and processing methods, with Luis at the quality control helm. This particular lot is made up of the Yellow Catuaà cultivar, naturally processed by drying the whole coffee cherry on cement patios for upwards of three weeks. The result is a coffee that showcases the dedication and expertise of the Turati family, offering a rich and complex cup that stands out among Brazilian coffees.
